April, May, June on the Baltic Sea — check what to realistically expect from the weather in Mielno in spring and how to make the most of it.

Spring in Mielno means an empty beach, no crowds and a temperature that changes beyond recognition from week to week. Before you pack your suitcases, check what the weather by the sea really looks like from April to June and which attractions are already operating out of season.

Weather forecast by the sea in spring in Mielno – what to expect from April to June?

The weather forecast by the sea in spring in Mielno can be quite surprising; the main problem is the strong wind, which is never lacking. April is a sine wave, in which you wake up in the morning with ground frost, then the temperature reaches 11°C during the day, May suddenly gives 20°C, and June in Mielno is practically full summer with water in the Baltic Sea at 14°C. If you are planning a trip to the Baltic Sea in this period, it is good to know what to realistically expect from the weather – and how to use this spring weather variability to your advantage.

The key advantage of spring over summer in Mielno is the silence and definitely fewer tourists and at the same time a double-digit temperature, allowing you to go to the beach in shorts. Add to that an empty beach, a sharp sea breeze, silence instead of crowds. Spring is definitely the best time for people who value peace above all.

What is the weather in April in Mielno?

April is the month that breaks the last colds of winter. Thermometers during the day show from 3°C to 11°C, and the felt temperature can drop below zero due to the strong wind from the Baltic Sea. It is precisely the wind direction that determines what the day looks like. Our tip - when the wind blows from the north, it is worth going to the lake where the wind is much less felt; in case of a southern wind, head to the sea. The felt temperature in Mielno often deceives us - even with the strongest wind from the south, a walk along the lake shore can turn out warm.

On the other hand, April is the least rainy month of spring. The average rainfall is about 35 mm, so the chance of a dry day is considerable. The water in the Baltic Sea holds barely 5°C, so forget about bathing, but long walks along the beach all to yourself – priceless.

It is worth packing sunglasses despite the cold. The April sun over the open water can hit the eyes harder than it seems.

May in Mielno – the weather picks up speed

In May the weather clearly mellows. The average air temperature is 12°C, the maximum is around 20°C, and the first warmth is increasingly noted around the May long weekend. The IMGW (Polish Institute of Meteorology) in long-term forecasts for the West Pomeranian Voivodeship usually indicates May as the month with the greatest chance of stable, sunny weather.

Rainfall increases to about 57 mm, and the first thunderstorms usually appear in the second half of the month. The water in the sea exceeds 9°C – the bold are already testing bathing, although it usually ends with a short dip. But it is a great moment for picnics, kayaking and bike trips around Lake Jamno.

June – when Mielno starts playing at full steam

June, weather-wise, is practically summer. Thermometers show 16–19°C, and in sunny weather the mercury columns regularly break 22–24°C. The water in the Baltic Sea reaches 14°C, which on good days is enough for a longer bathe – especially around noon, when the temperature reaches its zenith.

Rainfall averages 60 mm, most often in the form of short afternoon thunderstorms.

Weather in Mielno in recent years – what does the data say?

Springs on the Baltic Coast increasingly surprise. April 2023 brought to Mielno an unusual cooling for almost the entire month. A year later, in 2024, the May long weekend welcomed tourists with real summer – 25°C under a cloudless sky.

June 2022 was recorded as one of the warmest of the last decade, with a heatwave reaching 30°C by the sea. In turn, 2021 brought an exceptionally rainy end to May and a lot of thunderstorms in the West Pomeranian region. The conclusion is simple – averages are just averages, and spring on the Baltic Sea can look very different depending on the year.

Therefore, regardless of what the detailed forecast for the coming days shows, a plan B for colder hours always comes in handy.

. Questions 1

Can you bathe in May?

It is rather fun for the tough. A water temperature of 9°C without a wetsuit gives more the effect of ice-bathing than of relaxation.

2

What clothes to take to Mielno in spring?

Dressing in spring by the sea is already the atmosphere of warmth and holidays, but you have to take into account the wind, which can surprise us.

3

How far should you look at the long-term weather forecast for Mielno?

A long-term forecast above ten days already has considerable divergence from the actual state. For planning a trip, it is best to check the detailed forecast three to five days before arrival.

If the spring atmosphere in Mielno does not put you off, but rather encourages you to travel out of season – it is worth booking a date in advance. Spring weekends in proven venues by Lake Jamno and the Baltic Sea sell out faster than logic would suggest, and April and May mornings by the sea are something you will no longer see in the full July season.
