Walking and cycling trails in Mielno lead through coastal forests, along Baltic beaches and the shores of Lake Jamno. The location of the resort on a spit — a narrow strip of land between the sea and the lake — means that in a relatively small area you will find routes of surprisingly varied character.

Cycling routes — from coastal paths to loops around the lake

The most important cycling route in the region is R10 VeloBaltica (EuroVelo 10) — an international trail running along the entire Polish Baltic coast. Through the Mielno commune runs its picturesque section connecting Łazy, Mielno, Unieście, Chłopy, Sarbinowo and Gąski. On this section, the route leads through forests, along the dunes and on modernised cycle paths — in 2019, 18 km of new surface between Mielno and Pleśna were put into use.

A popular alternative is the loop around Lake Jamno — a route about 42 km long, running through Strzeżenice, Dobiesławiec, Mścice and Łabusz. The terrain is almost completely flat, and the surface is largely asphalt, which makes it ideal even for families with children. Shorter cycling trips, on the other hand, run from Mielno to Koszalin (14 km).

Walking trails — walks by the sea and through forests

The E9 trail (Coastal Red Trail) runs through Mielno — a European walking route stretching from Portugal to Estonia. Its Polish section is over 700 km long, and the fragment in the vicinity of Mielno leads along the beach and the coastal forest between Łazy and Sarbinowo. It is an excellent suggestion both for a few-hour walk and for a longer staged hike.

It is also worth getting to know the Forest Loop of Adventures and Mysteries — a family path through the forest with giant wooden pine cones, nature puzzles and historical bunkers from the Second World War. The route is free of charge and accessible all year round. Lovers of walks by the sea can instead take the nearly two-kilometre-long Friendship Promenade, connecting the centre of Mielno with Unieście.

Infrastructure and practical information

The Mielno commune is systematically expanding the network of cycle paths — in the centre of the resort two-way roads for cyclists have been built, and along the Jamno Spit about 10 km of paved trails have been designated. In the summer season, several bicycle rentals operate, including points offering electric bicycles and child seats.

All walking and cycling trails in the area of Mielno are free of charge and accessible all year round. In winter, forest trails work well for nordic walking — Mielno is a recognised centre of this discipline and was the host of the INWA World Cup in Nordic Walking.

For whom — routes for every level

Walking and cycling trails in Mielno will suit everyone. Families with children will appreciate the flat loops around Lake Jamno and the forest educational paths. Active cyclists will find a challenge on the longer sections of R10 VeloBaltica. Seniors and lovers of quiet walks can use the paved promenades and coastal paths. After an active day on the trail, it is worth visiting the outdoor gym on the beach to complete a workout in the fresh air.
