The motorboat helmsman’s licence can be applied for by persons who have reached 14 years of age – this requires passing a theoretical and practical exam. The motorboat helmsman’s licence entitles the holder to operate motorboats on inland waters and on sea waters in a zone up to 2 nautical miles from the shore, during daytime. Persons under 16 with a licence may operate craft with limited engine power up to 60 kW (approx. 81 HP).
