A plan for a rainy week in Mielno from 6 to 12 May 2026 — day by day, with addresses, hours and specific indoor attractions.
Rain in Mielno does not have to mean a wasted holiday. A cruise on Lake Jamno, bowling at Arche, an aquapark in Koszalin and fun without leaving the house — we check what to do in Mielno when it rains, day by day for the whole week.
What to do in Mielno when it rains? A plan for the rainy week 6–12 May 2026 — day by day
Short answer: on rainy days in Mielno, the best options are a cruise on a Dutch-style boat on Lake Jamno (45 minutes, 65 PLN adult / 55 PLN child), bowling at the Arche Aircraft Factory in Unieście (80–100 PLN per lane, open until 21:00) and Koszalin Aquapark 15 minutes by car from Mielno (open 10:00–22:00). The week of 6 to 12 May 2026 has three rainy days, one cloudy and three sunny — each requires a different plan. The most underrated solution is fun without leaving the accommodation — barley with rice, hot-cold, card games — which save families with children those most difficult afternoons, when it pours from morning to evening.
The May long weekend 2026 squeezed everything out of the weather — 26 degrees and full sun. Unfortunately, the second week of May begins with rain, cooling and black clouds. What to do in Mielno when it rains and you have planned your holiday for these days? Don’t panic — I have prepared a day-by-day plan: where to go, when to book a cruise and what to do in the evening when the temperature drops to 7 degrees. Each attraction has an address, hours and phone number. The plan is tailored for families with children, but will also work for couples and anyone who does not want to cut their holiday short due to the weather.
What weather awaits Mielno from 6 to 12 May 2026?
The day-by-day forecast looks as follows.
Wednesday 6 May begins the rainy week most strongly — the thermometer shows 7 degrees, rain falls from morning until 5 pm, and after the precipitation a cloudy and cold evening remains. This is a day for the library, time with the family and fun in the house.
Thursday 7 May is shaping up similarly to Wednesday, but with much less rain and a temperature of about 8 degrees. This is the ideal window for a cruise on the Dutch-style boat on Lake Jamno and evening bowling at Arche.
Friday 8 May breaks the series of clouds — full sun comes out and it gets even 16 degrees in the shade. The Baltic is, however, still icy, so beach holidays are out, and the best option is the Water Fun rental on Lake Jamno.
Saturday 9 May and Sunday 10 May are further sunny days, again up to 16 degrees. This is the window for longer trips — above all to the lighthouse in Gąski near Mielno.
Monday 11 May brings the return of black clouds and cooling down to 10 degrees. This is a classic day for the aquapark in Koszalin.
Tuesday 12 May closes the week as it began — with rain and 10 degrees. The best option is attractions without leaving the accommodation.
The first three days of the week are typical May by the Baltic — cold, cloudiness, rain coming and going. The weekend gives a short breather: it saves the holiday with full sun and temperatures reaching 16 degrees. After that, the weather disappears and rains until the end of the day. The plan for the whole week is worth writing out as early as Sunday evening, so that you do not spend rainy mornings browsing Google with coffee in one hand and a grumbling child in the other.
Wednesday 6 May — the first rainy day, when it pours from morning until 17:00
Wednesday begins the rainy week in earnest. The thermometer shows 7 degrees, water pours down until 5 pm, and after the rain a cloudy, cold afternoon remains. Three ideas that save the family plan on such a day.
Library in Mielno — shelter for readers and those who were going to start
The library at 13 Bolesława Chrobrego Street is open on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10:00 to 17:00 — which perfectly overlaps with the rainy hours on Wednesday. If you forgot to bring a book from home, you will choose something on the spot. The librarians will help the child find a title from youth literature, and the adult will borrow a thriller or a reportage for the rest of the cloudy week. For a parent, it is also an opportunity to instil in a child a habit for which there is never time in the sun.
Glamping instead of a room — option when accommodation is not yet booked
If you have your holiday in your calendar but have not yet booked accommodation, a rainy week is an argument for something more than an ordinary room. Herbals Glamping in the area around Mielno has fireplaces, saunas and a décor in which rain sounds like a film soundtrack. A house with a fireplace turns a downpour from a problem into an asset — especially when you spend the evening there with children after a short trip to the library.
Evening after 17:00 — when the rain eases off but the cold remains
After 5 pm the precipitation stops, but the temperature does not return. Two ideas: a short walk along the empty promenade in Mielno with hot cocoa to go, or booking a table at an atmospheric restaurant near the sea. A child in sandals is out — shoes with a thick sole, jacket and hat are mandatory, regardless of the fact that it is May.
Thursday 7 May — Dutch-style boat cruise on Lake Jamno and evening bowling
Thursday is shaping up similarly to Wednesday, but with less rain. This is a day when it is not worth sitting at home — such an atmosphere happens once a season and is impossible to replicate in July, when everything is sunny, crowded and loud.
Captain Henryk’s boat — 45 minutes on Lake Jamno in rainy atmosphere
At the Water Fun marina at 20 Bolesława Chrobrego Street, a Dutch-style boat is moored, with which Captain Henryk sails around Lake Jamno. The cruise lasts 45 minutes, accommodates up to 9 people and costs 65 PLN per adult and 55 PLN per child. The boat has a cabin and an outdoor deck — in the rain you hide under the roof, when it stops raining, you go outside.
On a rainy day, call 692 553 520 in advance and confirm that the boat is sailing. Drops on the surface of the water, mist over the lake and the hum of the engine create an atmosphere that you will not see in the sun. Children get a real attraction here: entry into the cabin, the helm, the view of birds over Jamno. After the cruise you return to the car warmer than before leaving the hotel.
Evening bowling at the Arche Aircraft Factory in Unieście
After the cruise, head to Unieście. Arche Fabryka Samolotów at 40 Generała Stanisława Maczka Street is a facility on a former Luftwaffe base — a complex with a restaurant, bowling alley and aircraft museum. Bowling costs from 80 to 100 PLN per lane (depending on the day), and the bowling alley is open until 21:00. Phone for reservations: 94 306 78 78.
Events often take place at the facility, so before setting off, call and check if the bowling alley is available at your date for guests outside the event. The combination of lunch, bowling and a walk through the aircraft museum gives the family 3–4 hours of entertainment regardless of what is happening outside the window.
Friday 8 May — the first sunny day, ideal for water attractions
Friday breaks the series of clouds. The sun comes out, the thermometer reaches 16 degrees and for the next three days the rain does not return. The Baltic is, however, still icy — the water has 7–9 degrees, so beach holidays are out. The solution is the lake.
At 20 Bolesława Chrobrego Street — the same place from which Captain Henryk’s boat departs on Thursday — you can rent a motorboat, pedal boat or SUP. Lake Jamno warms up faster than the sea, the water is calmer and safer for children, and the distance from the city beach gives a feeling of an excursion. An hour of pedal boat for a four-person family costs less than entry to most Pomeranian tourist attractions.
A child who steers a pedal boat themselves will remember it better than another waffle on the promenade. If you are planning a barbecue at your accommodation in the evening, an hour on the water in the afternoon will burn off the children’s excess energy better than any walk.
Weekend 9–10 May — trip to the lighthouse in Gąski
Saturday and Sunday is full sunshine in the shade even 16 degrees. This is the window in which it is worth going further than the promenade. The second highest lighthouse in Poland stands in Gąski near Mielno — 50.2 metres high, 190 steps, panorama of the Baltic from the terrace at the very top.
How to get from Mielno to the Gąski lighthouse
Two options where the car can be left at the hotel:
- Happy Train tourist train — departs from the car park at the Polo market in Mielno and goes through Sarbinowo to Gąski
- Meleks — daily service from the station in Sarbinowo, 7.50 PLN per adult and 5 PLN per child, departures on the hour (in season even every half hour)
For children, the meleks or the train itself is a separate attraction — this is not “just transport”, it is part of the trip. Entry ticket to the lighthouse costs 15 PLN per adult and 10 PLN per child. The lighthouse is open 10:00–17:00 until the end of October.
What to do when 190 steps are too much
Not every child will get to the top, not every adult with back problems either. In Gąski there is a beach with an open view, cafes with desserts and a dike along which you can walk. The return through Sarbinowo gives the opportunity for lunch in a different place than everyday Mielno.
Monday 11 May — black clouds return, Koszalin Aquapark saves family day
After the weekend, the weather is breaking down again — the temperature drops to 10 degrees, it starts to rain, and the wind blows. The classic that saves a family with children on such a day is located 15 minutes by car from Mielno. The Water Park in Koszalin at 14 Rekreacyjna Street is open from 10:00 to 22:00 (the sports pool already from 7:00). On offer you will find slides for older and younger ones, a water trampoline, a sports pool, a paddling pool with a mushroom for the youngest and a sauna zone.
On rainy days it can get crowded. The two best windows are an hour after opening or in the evening after 18:00. The MultiSport card gives 60 minutes of free entry to the recreation area and the sports pool — it is worth taking it with you. The Kocham Koszalin card reduces the ticket by 10%. If you did not arrive by car, check the entry about how to get from Mielno to Koszalin by public transport.
Tuesday 12 May — what to do when it rains all day again
Tuesday closes the week as it began — with rain and 10 degrees. A day when you do not want to move from the house or the apartment. This does not mean it is wasted — quite the opposite. Four ideas you will not find in any guide to Mielno.
Card games for the whole family
Classics: poker for older children, cheat and pig for younger ones, building card houses for the patient and those who like competition. If you did not bring a deck from home, ask at the reception of the facility — most resorts in Mielno have cards, board games or chess available for guests.
Barley, rice and a bowl — an integration game with children
Pour a glass of barley and rice into two bowls, mix, give the children a teaspoon each and let them sort. Sounds trivial, works for hours and requires nothing but two products from the kitchen. Best for ages 3–8. Version with a competitive element: whoever first recovers 50 grains of rice wins the choice of the evening fairy tale.
Hot-cold
Hide something in the room, let the child search. You say “hot” when they are close, “cold” when they are far. Works for 4–10 year olds, rotate as the leader. The game scales to any room size and saves half an hour of every rainy afternoon.
The same word on 3, 2, 1
Two players independently think of a word matching the given category (e.g. fruit, city, cartoon). On 3-2-1 both say the chosen word simultaneously. Goal: say the same. Great for older children, couples and groups after lunch. Despite appearances it is addictive.
FAQ
Questions 1.
Is it worth going to Mielno when it rains for most of the week?
Yes — provided you have a plan. Mielno and the surrounding area offer so many indoor attractions that a rainy holiday does not have to be wasted. Plus: it is cheaper, less crowded, easier to get a table at a restaurant and a parking spot near the beach.
Is there an aquapark in Mielno?
No. The nearest large water park is the Koszalin Water Park, about 15 minutes by car from Mielno. Some hotels in Mielno (e.g. Unitral) have their own recreational pools sometimes available for non-guests — it is worth calling and asking.
How to dress a child for a rainy day by the sea in May?
Shoes with a thick sole instead of sandals, long socks, two layers on top (T-shirt + sweatshirt), a rain jacket and a hat. The wind chill by the Baltic in May can drop to 4–5 degrees in the wind, even if the thermometer shows 8.
Will the cruise on Lake Jamno take place in the rain?
Most often yes — the boat has a cabin and rain is not an obstacle. In very bad weather (strong wind, storm) the captain may cancel the cruise, so it is worth calling 692 553 520 in advance. The cruise price does not change depending on the weather.
