The Forest Loop of Adventures and Secrets in Mielno is an educational nature trail leading through coastal pine forest, old dunes, hillforts and bunkers from World War II. The route runs within the Koszalin Coastal Belt and connects three localities: Mielno, Mielenko and Chłopy.
Two loops, dozens of discoveries
Two route variants are available. The longer loop, marked in red, is 2.9 km long — walking it takes about 35 minutes of walking alone. The shorter one, marked in blue, is 1.5 km and requires about 18 minutes. In both cases, it is worth adding extra time for sightseeing of the educational points and play — roughly from 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the chosen variant.
The most characteristic elements of the route are the giant wooden figures of pine cones, which grow among the trees like forest sculptures. There is also a wooden footbridge connecting two early medieval hillforts, an observation platform, and two bunkers from the period of World War II, which have been adapted as elements of the educational trail. Information boards on the history of the region and the nature of the coastal forest are placed along the route.
How to get to the trail
The entrance to the Forest Loop is accessible from Kościuszki or 1 Maja streets in Mielno — just a few minutes’ walk from the centre of the resort. The trail runs near the Velo Baltica cycling route (R10) towards Ustronie, which makes it easy to combine the walk with a longer cycling expedition along the walking and cycling trails of the area.
Who is the Forest Loop for
It is an attraction designed with families with children in mind — puzzles, sculptures and historical elements engage the youngest, and the forest setting provides relaxation for adults. The route leads through a shady forest, so it works well on hot days as an alternative to beach time. It is worth remembering that the terrain is uneven and not adapted for prams — it is best to bring comfortable shoes.
The Forest Loop of Adventures and Secrets is accessible free of charge all year round. After a forest expedition, a good idea is a visit to the nearby Butterfly House, which is located in the centre of Mielno — a way to fill a whole afternoon with weather-independent attractions.
