A guide to the best piers on Lake Jamno — ideal places for a walk, fishing and relaxation during your holiday.

Lake Jamno hides several exceptional spots that are worth reaching beyond the beach. Piers scattered along the shores are excellent places for a moment of respite, fishing or admiring the calm surface of the water away from the summer crowds.

The best piers on Lake Jamno

where it is worth stopping during a holiday in Mielno

Lake Jamno is that part of a Mielno holiday that most tourists only discover on a second visit. Some end up here because the child wants a kayak. Others — because they have seen someone coming out of the marina with a fishing rod. And some simply sit by the water and stay for a few hours. This third group knows best what they come back for.

Jamno is a unique coastal lake — a former sea bay, today separated from the Baltic by a sandbar on which Mielno and Unieście lie. The lake is connected to the sea through a channel — specifically with the Baltic Sea through the so-called Jamno Channel, which gives it a brackish-grey character and means that the fauna here is richer than in a typical inland lake. The Dzierżęcinka and Uniesta rivers flow into the lake. Jamno is in the Mielno municipality and is one of the largest coastal lakes in Poland.

Below you will find a guide to specific places on the lake — from crowded marinas full of water attractions to a quiet embankment where it is better to stop in the evening than in the morning.

Ul. Chrobrego – the centre of activity on the lake

If someone asks where Lake Jamno starts from the Mielno side, the answer is simple: Chrobrego street. Here the largest part of the water attractions is concentrated, and from here practically any variant of recreation on the water can be organised.

At ul. Chrobrego 30C Water Fun operates — the main base and, above all, the place of departure of the “Mila” ship. The cruise on Lake Jamno lasts about 45 minutes, costs 60 PLN for adults and 50 PLN for children, and 30 PLN for our pet. Throughout the cruise a guide leads, telling the history of the lake and the area. In peak season the seats sell out quickly — it is worth booking in advance.

At ul. Chrobrego 23 (“U Latarnika”) another location of the Water Fun water equipment rental shop operates: SUP, kayak, paddle boats. Fewer queues than at the main marina, equally good access to the lake.

A bit further on, at ul. Chrobrego 32, there is the yacht slipway of the Maritime Club “Tramp” — the oldest and most sailing part of the shore. Yachts, the seasonal opening of the sailing season, a different atmosphere than Water Fun. A place for those who seek contact with water not through attractions but through the deck.

Ul. Pontonierów – a quiet alternative with free parking

The third Water Fun location at ul. Pontonierów 20 is a different experience. Less tourist traffic, wide and convenient access to the water and, above all — free parking directly at the mooring spot.

The lake here is shallow and calm, without waves — an ideal place for families with children who want to enter the water without the crowd of the centre. It is also a good starting point for those who want to actively spend time on the water by kayak but prefer to set off without rush. Several water equipment rental shops operate in the lake area, but this location is logistically the most convenient for those arriving by car, although it is at the very end of the Mielno municipality.

Pier Bałtyk – from where the “Julek” ship departs

Bałtyk is one of those points that is less often mentioned in general guides but worth knowing. From here “Julek” departs — a cruise in a slightly different style and with a different route character than “Mila”. Julek has three stops, Pontonierów-Koszalin-Bałtyk.

A picturesque area, close to the place where the lake approaches the channel connecting Jamno with the Baltic Sea. Less crowded than the main ul. Chrobrego, offers a good view of the open lake surface. It is worth stopping here even without a ticket for a facility — the view alone is worth it.

HT Houseboats – piers where you can live

On the shore of Lake Jamno in Unieście stands one of the most original accommodation options in the entire lake area — HT Houseboats. Houseboats with their own settlement on the water and a view of the open Jamno you will not find many in Poland.

For guests, kayaks and motorboats are available — you can set off on the water without a queue and without looking for a rental shop. What is more: right next door “Julek” moors, so cruise trips can be planned literally from your window.

It is a completely different contact with nature than a hotel on the promenade. Instead of a pool and a reception — water, the lake and birds at dawn. Available dates and reservations on hthouseboats.com.

Unieście – an embankment for those looking for silence

Unieście is a separate town, several hundred metres from the centre of Mielno. The lake from this side is calmer — less infrastructure, fewer tourists, more reeds and water birds.

It is worth coming here in the evening, when the promenade in the centre of the seaside resort is bustling with life and you are looking for something quieter. A shore with a view of the open Jamno, sunsets which from this side look different than from the Baltic. For those who want to fish from the shore without the crowd — it is one of the better sections in the lake area. A charming corner that mainly regulars know.
