The cyclical Opening of the Sailing Season, organised by the historic Maritime Club “Tramp”, is one of the most important June events in Mielno, marking the official beginning of an active summer on the water. It is a celebration of sailors and water sports enthusiasts that takes place every year at the Club’s marina, located at ul. Chrobrego 32, directly by the picturesque Lake Jamno.
The “Tramp” Club, founded in 1948, is one of the oldest and best-known sailing centres in Poland, and its annual inauguration of the season has the character of a ceremonial tradition. Although the official date may vary, the event always centres around the June welcome of summer, gathering crews, sailing adepts and tourists.
During the opening of the season, you can count on a number of attractions
- Parade of vessels: Sailing boats, yachts and smaller boats of the “Tramp” Club and friendly organisations ceremoniously sail onto the waters of Lake Jamno.
- Sea shanties and live music: Sailor songs are an inseparable element of the atmosphere, often accompanying feasts at the marina.
- Accompanying events: The Maritime Club “Tramp” is actively engaged in sailing training (for the grades of Yacht Sailor and Yacht Helmsman), so the celebrations are often accompanied by demonstrations, informational meetings or minor regattas.
Tourist cruises — on the “Mila” boat
The ceremonial opening of the season is not only a symbolic cutting of the ribbon, but above all an excellent opportunity to integrate the boating community and become familiar with the offer of the Club itself, which throughout the summer season conducts intensive activity, including sea cruises on the Baltic Sea and the North Sea. The marina is also a base for local tourist cruises on Lake Jamno, including the popular passenger boat “Mila”.
