The Treasury of the Fishing Village in Chłopy is a multimedia museum dedicated to the history and fishing traditions of one of the last authentic fishing villages on the Polish coast. The facility has been operating since 2019 at ul. Morska 37 and forms a natural complement to a visit to the Fishing Harbour in Chłopy.
Exhibition and multimedia attractions
There are two exhibition rooms in the building. The first presents historical exhibits coming from donations by village residents — everyday objects from the 19th and early 20th centuries that document the life of the fishing community on this section of coast. Among them you can see, among others, antique furniture, household equipment and family heirlooms passed down from generation to generation.
The second is the Fishing Hall with a replica of a traditional boat from Chłopy, in which you can experience a simulated cruise on the Baltic Sea during a storm. The tilts of the hull and the multimedia projection convey the atmosphere of a sea voyage with surprising fidelity.
Among the interactive attractions, worth mentioning are the touch model of the Baltic Sea, the virtual changing room with traditional fishing costumes using Kinect technology, and a station simulating the pulling of nets. For the youngest, a zone with quizzes and puzzles on a maritime theme has been prepared.
For whom and when it is worth visiting
The Treasury of the Fishing Village in Chłopy is an ideal attraction for rainy days — the entire exhibition is inside the building. Families with children will appreciate the interactive stations that engage the senses and teach through play. Lovers of regional history, in turn, will find here authentic mementoes documenting the everyday life of a seaside settlement from over a hundred years ago. The facility is fully accessible for people with mobility restrictions.
It is worth combining the visit with a walk to the Obelisk of the 16th Meridian, located a few minutes’ walk away. Visits are guided in groups — current entry times are available on the facility’s website.
