The Jamno Homestead (officially Jamno Homestead) is an intimate open-air museum in the northern part of Koszalin, which brings closer the traditions and culture of the former inhabitants of the village of Jamno. The institution operates as the Ethnography Department of the Museum in Koszalin and is located at ul. Jamneńska 24 — only about 20 km from the centre of Mielno.

Workshops and regional traditions

The heart of the homestead is the reconstructed 19th-century peasant cottage and a wooden barn, in which handicraft workshops and cultural events are held. All year round, classes in ceramics, embroidery, weaving, polychromy on wood and block printing on fabric are conducted here. The workshops are addressed to all age groups — children, seniors and whole families participate in them.

In the barn, an interactive exhibition space has also been arranged, where you can try on replicas of traditional Jamno costumes and look at household tools from the era. A regular event is the Jamno Shepherd Season, during which displays of sheep shearing and herding by sheepdogs are organised.

Practical information

The Jamno Homestead is located in Jamno — a district of Koszalin lying on the shore of Lake Jamno. From Mielno it is most easily reached by car (about 20 minutes). A visit usually lasts about an hour. Details on opening hours and current events are available on the zagrodajamno.pl website.

For whom it is worth

The Jamno Homestead is primarily a suggestion for families with children and people interested in the regional culture of Pomerania. The handicraft workshops engage both the youngest and adults, and the atmosphere of the open-air museum allows you to break away from the beach bustle. It is worth combining the visit with discovering the attractions on Lake Jamno or looking through the other attractions in the surroundings of Mielno.
