The Mielno Mural is a large-format street art composition that adorns the wall of a building at the main entrance to the beach in the centre of Mielno. The colourful painting with maritime motifs was created on the initiative of the local authorities and quickly became one of the characteristic points of the resort.

History of the mural and its author

The author of the Mielno Mural is Tomasz Żuk, an artist from Koszalin working under the pseudonym Cukin. Known for dozens of works in the West Pomeranian region, Cukin specialises in large-format wall paintings executed in spray technique. The mural in Mielno presents a composition referring to maritime themes — fish, ships and waves create a colourful scene that catches the eyes of passers-by. The artist worked on the piece for three days, and while painting was happy to tell the gathered viewers about techniques for mixing colours and applying stencils.

Location and practical information

The painting is located on ul. Kościuszki, in the immediate vicinity of the Walrus Monument, right before the descent to the beach. Access is free and possible at any time of year, both in the summer season and outside it. It is a popular place to take souvenir photos — families with children and street art enthusiasts often stop here.

The Mielno Mural fits into the growing presence of street art in the seaside resort. Along the nearby Promenada Przyjaźni you can also admire other works by Cukin in the form of open-air art panels, forming the Cukin Gallery on the promenade. A walk connecting both points is a good idea for a short route through Mielno’s street art.
