An overview of the best sanatorium hotels in Mielno — where to combine rest by the Baltic Sea with treatments and biological renewal in 2026.

Mielno has for years attracted tourists looking not only for the beach but for real rest for the body. Hotels with sanatorium facilities offer treatments, brine and thermal pools and health programmes right by the Baltic Sea — we check which places are worth considering in 2026.

The best sanatorium hotels in Mielno 2026 — where to rest and improve your health by the Baltic Sea

When choosing a sanatorium stay on the Polish seaside, Mielno is today becoming one of the most often indicated destinations. The climate, iodine in the air, peace outside the holiday season and several strong medical spa facilities do their work. In this guide to sanatoriums in Mielno I show three places that I recommend to families, patients and people who want to rest and improve their health — Unitral, Sofra and HT Houseboats as an alternative to a classic spa sanatorium.

Each of these places solves a different problem. One will put you back on your feet after a spine injury. The second will help you lose a few kilos. The third will do what is increasingly hard to buy with money — give you silence.

Why is Mielno a good destination for a sanatorium stay?

Mielno is land on a narrow strip between Lake Jamno and the Baltic. This arrangement causes the air to be humid, strongly saturated with iodine and salt. For people with problems with the upper respiratory tract, asthma, allergies or just fatigue, it is one of the better microclimates in the country.

Here, if you choose well, you will not encounter crowds like in other seaside towns. The season outside July and August is quiet. You can walk along the beach for hours and not feel besieged by crowds. About five thousand people live in Mielno, which translates into peace off-season. For a patient this matters more than the number of treatments per day — because regeneration starts from the head, not from the treatment table.

The second asset is the location. From Warsaw you will get there in 5–6 hours by car, from Poznań in just under 4. By train you will reach Koszalin, then by bus or taxi about 12 km. For older people it is also important that most facilities are located 100–500 metres from the sea. Check exactly how much it will cost you in this article.

Sanatorium, medical spa or rehabilitation turnus — what is the difference?

These three concepts mix on the internet and mislead. Briefly, how it looks in practice:

  • Spa sanatorium — a facility with a treatment base, a doctor and qualified medical staff. May accept NFZ, ZUS, KRUS referrals or private guests. A typical stay is 14–21 days.
  • Medical spa — a hotel with a strongly developed treatment zone and a physiotherapist, but without NFZ queues. Operates only privately, package usually 5–14 days.
  • Rehabilitation turnus — a shorter, intensive stay with a specific goal (spine, locomotor system, circulatory system). Often financed from PFRON.

In Mielno you will find everything. This is important, because if you are counting on a sanatorium stay with NFZ on the basis of a referral, Mielno will not really offer it to you. If you are looking for a private medical spa with a rich offer of therapeutic treatments — you are in a very good place.

Hotel Unitral Mielno — a medical spa whose treatment zone is impressive

Unitral is one place composed of two buildings. The first has a history of over fifteen years and a three-star category. The second is new, opened two years ago, five-star. Both are connected to each other and together form one facility — therefore guests from the cheaper part use all the amenities of the luxury part.

The wellness zone is what stands out the most in Unitral. You will find here a pool, a sauna complex (steam, dry, infrared), brine treatments, hydromassage, classic and therapeutic massages and a unique zone with Dead Sea climate. The whole treatment base occupies about 1600 m². For people with back pain, problems with the locomotor system and respiratory system, it is a full offer — from balneotherapy to hydrotherapy.

Meals are a buffet with breakfast and dinner. Guests who want something more go down to the hotel à la carte restaurant. Rooms in both buildings have full standard, are wireless Wi-Fi, comfortable, some adapted for disabled people. The hotel has a car park, which is not obvious for motorised patients by the sea. Room prices in season start indicatively from 350 PLN per night with meals (three-star part), 7-day packages with a technical medical zone start from about 2500 PLN per person.

This place is especially liked by older people and couples over fifty, but it is also a holiday for families with children — the pool and animations are on site. If you have pain problems in your back or another part of the body, Unitral is on the podium.

Sofra Mielno — Health Institute, that is a sanatorium with diet in the lead role

Sofra is a newly opened complex that has set itself a different goal than a classic sanatorium place. Here people come to lose a few kilos and reset their body. Diets are the basis of the offer — juice, Dr Dąbrowska’s vegetable and fruit, easily digestible, low-calorie 1000 kcal, Mediterranean. Recommended stays last from 7 to 14 days.

Next to the diet you have a full medical base: pool, spa, gym, massages, inhalation chambers, medical tests, consultations with a physiotherapist and a doctor. It is a rare combination — the majority of Polish facilities would put only wellness here, Sofra adds a strictly medical part.

As in Unitral, there are two buildings connected with each other. The older one costs less for a stay, the newer one gives more luxury and a higher price. A 7-day package with diet and medical zone starts indicatively from 3200 PLN per person (prices depend on the season and chosen programme — before booking check the current price list on the facility’s website). For people who associate Mielno only with sunbathing, Sofra is proof that you can spend two weeks here and leave 4–6 kg lighter.

Sofra = diet + offer of numerous treatments + spa zone.

HT Houseboats — when to choose sleep on the water instead of a sanatorium

Not everyone is looking for brine graduation towers and drinking pump rooms. Some guests simply want to take a breath — literally, without flatmates in the corridor. HT Houseboats is just such an alternative, located at Pontonierów 20 street, on Lake Jamno, literally metres from the beach.

By choosing this facility, you get a private overnight stay on the water. Breakfast every morning in a basket outside the door. Light rocking during sleep. And a maritime atmosphere that no four-star hotel can build. There is no pool or treatments here. Nature does its work here. The amenities, however, are concrete — sauna in the house, sauna on the water, massage chair, hydromassage tub, fireplace.

The strongest side of this place is something that most facilities cannot sell. Here you do not pass people in the corridor. You do not sleep in the room next to a strange guest. Water separates you, and your apartment floats on it. The corridor turns into a walkway. Added to this is the Julek ship, which moors at the walkway next door and will take you on a cruise to Koszalin or to Mielno from the lake side.

The facility is year-round. This means that you can also come here in winter — then Mielno is even quieter, and the orange sunset over Jamno looks different from in summer. Before the trip it is worth checking the spring weather forecast by the sea in Mielno, because dates in transitional periods change the character of the stay. It is a place for rest and improvement of mental health.

How much does a stay at sanatorium hotels in Mielno cost in 2026?

The brackets are wide and depend on the form of stay. Indicatively:

  • A night with breakfast in the three-star part of Unitral: from 350–450 PLN / pers.
  • A 7-day package with treatments at Unitral: from 2500–3500 PLN / pers.
  • A 7-day package at Sofra with diet and treatments: from 3200–4500 PLN / pers.
  • A night at the HT Houseboats house: from 650–1200 PLN for the whole house (2 people).

14-day packages come out proportionally cheaper, and off-season (November–March) prices fall by about 20–30%. The cheapest proper stay, with full meals and a treatment package, will close around 2500 PLN per person.

Sanatorium stay with NFZ or privately?

In Mielno all three described facilities operate privately. If you are waiting for an NFZ referral, you will not choose Mielno — typical NFZ destinations are Kołobrzeg, Ciechocinek or Inowrocław. The plus of a private stay is that you have a date within two weeks, not after two years. The minus — you pay the full price.

FAQ

QUESTIONS 1.

Do sanatorium hotels in Mielno have rooms adapted for disabled people?

Yes, both Unitral and Sofra have such rooms. HT Houseboats, due to the construction of the walkways, has limited accessibility.

Is nursing care included in the price of the stay?

At Sofra and Unitral a physiotherapist and medical assistance are present during the working hours of the treatment base. Permanent 24/7 nursing care — that is the format of an NFZ sanatorium, not a medical spa.

How many treatments per day in the package?

In standard stay packages it is usually 2–4 treatments per day, in more intensive packages up to 6.

Do the facilities have parking?

Each of the three described — yes. At HT Houseboats the car park is right by the walkway.

Can you spend time actively between treatments here?

Yes, and it is worth it. I recommend renting a motorboat or a quieter option — a paddle boat on Jamno.
