The promenade in Sarbinowo is an approximately 1.2-kilometre walkway running along the shore of the Baltic Sea through the entire length of this seaside village. Situated only 7 km from Mielno, Sarbinowo belongs to the Mielno commune and is a calmer alternative to the bustling resort.
History of the seaside walkway
The beginnings of the promenade date back to 1910, when a kilometre-long defensive wall of stones and concrete was built along the shore. Its task was to protect the dunes from the destructive action of sea waves. For over a hundred years, this structure formed the foundation of the seaside thoroughfare.
The breakthrough came in 2013, when the promenade was thoroughly rebuilt as part of an investment worth nearly 15 million zł. The surface was widened, modern LED lighting was installed, benches and new railings were set up, as well as a bulkhead system protecting the village from flooding. The official opening of the modernised promenade took place on 27 September 2013.
A walk in Sarbinowo — what awaits you along the way
The route runs parallel to ul. Nadmorska, from the western part of the village to its eastern edge, behind the historic Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary with its characteristic soaring tower. Along the promenade there are nine descents to the beach and two ramps adapted for prams and people with disabilities.
Along the entire length of the walkway there are cafés, ice cream parlours and bars with outdoor seating. The lighting makes the evening walk in Sarbinowo have its special atmosphere — especially during the sunsets for which this part of the coast is famous.
Who is the promenade in Sarbinowo for
In contrast to the Friendship Promenade in Mielno, the Sarbinowo walkway offers a calmer atmosphere and less tourist traffic. It is the ideal place for families with children, seniors and all those who value intimate rest by the sea. Ambitious walkers can treat the promenade as a stopover on the coastal dune trail leading through Chłopy and Mielenko to Mielno, and lighthouse enthusiasts — as a base for trips to the nearby Gąski lighthouse.
The promenade in Sarbinowo is accessible free of charge all year round and is one of the most willingly visited spots of this intimate village.
